Practice Setting
- 12-bed pediatric unit
- Average pediatric census of 3-4 patients per day
- Average of 4 deliveries per day
- NICU census averages 2-3 babies daily
Clinical Responsibilities:
Newborn & Nursery Care
- Newborn patient management
- Circumcisions
- Frenotomy (when performed by physician)
NICU Procedures
- Lumbar punctures (LPs)
- UAC/UVC placement
- Needle decompression
- CPAP management
- Optiflow therapy
Pediatric Hospital Medicine
- Lumbar punctures
- Continuous albuterol administration
- Magnesium sulfate administration
- Nebulized epinephrine treatments
- DKA management and insulin drips for pediatric patients age 5+ without cerebral edema
- Outpatient pediatric infusions, including IVIG, rabies treatment, and chemotherapy administration
- Optiflow management
Critical Care Stabilization & Transport
- Intubation and ventilator management
- Passive cooling
- CPAP/BiPAP management
- Vasopressor initiation
- Neonatal and pediatric trauma response
- Pediatric and neonatal code response
- Patient stabilization prior to transport with Children’s Hospital of Colorado support
Requirements
- Board Certified or Board Eligible Pediatric Hospitalist
- Active Colorado medical license or ability to obtain
- Must meet current vaccination requirements
